In a nutshell:
Exclusive resort hotel favored by celebrities; sumptuous suites with ocean views, pretty beaches and full service spa.  Casitas are ideal for couples, families will love the two and three bedroom residence suites.  Quiet and private location but only a short drive to Cabo San Lucas.

A current favorite of Hollywood stars and a member of the prestigious Auberge Resort group, Esperanza is an elegant and tranquil hideaway. Guests return here time after time to enjoy blissful dinners under the stars, wallow in the infinity pool whilst watching the waves crash on the rocks below, indulge in naturally therapeutic spa treatments and to dance on the beach at the weekly Carnavalisimobarbecue event.

Each of the resorts’ casitas has a large balcony or terrace with ocean views, a fabulously equipped bedroom and lavish bathroom. Celebrity clients often choose the magnificent two and three bedroom Luxury Suites with private swimming pools, huge gardens or terraces and prestigious living areas, surely some of the finest accommodations in the area. Families can also rent the two to four bedroom Residence Villas with fully equipped kitchens and opulently furnished living spaces.

If you can drag yourself away from the manicured lawns and plethora of swimming pools, you’ll find plenty to do nearby. Fishing, golf, cycling, horseback riding, diving and adventure tours are amongst the attractions within easy reach of the hotel, and the friendly concierge staff will help with arrangements. Esperanza is also only a fifteen-minute drive from the crazy nightlife of Cabo San Lucas.

Esperanza may not have some of the gimmicks of the other top-end resorts on the Corridor, but it makes for a genuinely relaxed and gracious luxury vacation. We recommend it particularly for honeymooners (the casitas are a steal for the size of the accommodations and the quality of the amenities) and anyone wanting to escape the public eye (the luxury suites are amazingly indulgent and private!). But even celebrities like to let themselves go every now and again, so you never know who you may find yourself dancing next to on the beach…

Rooms

Every Casita and Suite at Esperanza boasts a wonderful ocean view and a huge balcony or terrace from which to enjoy the scenery. Casitas are perfect for couples or friends and can have either two double beds or one king bed. The magnificent two or three bedroom Luxury Suites would be a fabulous choice for a family or a small group of friends traveling together and wanting the very best accommodations. They feature spectacular outdoor living areas with private swimming pools and outdoor Jacuzzis as well as a lavishly furnished sitting room.

The Casitas are arranged in buildings of three or four floors looking towards the Sea of Cortez. Two buildings are considered Ocean Front – the first houses the Beach Front Casitas and the second the Luxury Suites. The Residences are clustered around two large swimming pool complexes and the second beach.

Summary of room facilities

All rooms

Air-conditioning, wi-fi, music system, TV and DVD player, room safe, minibar, telephone, terrace or balcony.

One, Two and Three bedroom Luxury Suites with private pool, full kitchen, ocean and beachfront.  From 2000 sq. ft. indoor and outdoor living space.

Residences

Three and Four Bedroom residences with full kitchen, large terrace. Ocean View. From 3800 sq. ft.

The Casitas are arranged in buildings of three or four floors. On the top floor of each building are the Palapa Spa Suites. These feature especially high ceilings that are opened up to the thatched roof, making the accommodations particularly airy. Each Palapa Spa Suite also has an infinity-edged plunge pool with amazing views. These rooms are ideal for honeymooners.

The other Casitas are very similar in amenities and size; the only difference is the location (Beach Front or Ocean View) and level of each unit. Buildings with four floors have an elevator. Those with three floors have stairs only, but the access to the rooms is to the rear of the building at the lower Terrace level, so in the three story buildings you would climb down one flight of stairs to reach the Garden Level and up one flight of stairs to the Palapa Spa Casita.  Some Lower Terrace Casitas have no steps and are suitable for wheelchair access, others have just a few steps.

All the casitas offer views of the ocean, although the views are better from the higher levels and the Garden Level Casitas are slightly less private. The Beach Front Casitas are located in one three story building that is just a few feet from the beach, and these casitas all have wonderful views of the magnificent ocean.

These spacious rooms become spectacular when the full length glazed doors are opened up to merge the interior with the huge terrace beyond. For much of the year it’s possible to forget the air-conditioning and to cool the room with the sea breezes and ceiling fan. We also love the super-comfortable beds with pillow-top mattresses and light down duvets, the complimentary soft drinks in the mini-bar and the high speed wireless internet. Each casita is also equipped with satellite TV and DVD player. The casitas are available with either one king or two queen beds.

The large terrace stretches the full length of the casita and features a sitting area where guests can enjoy the wonderful views or maybe take advantage of the room service menu to enjoy snacks or a private dinner. At the far end of the terrace is the hammock. Enjoy a lazy siesta here or watch the changing hues of the ocean. The terraces are mostly shady but do get a little sun throughout the day.

The lavish bathrooms feature his-and-hers showers, side by side with individual controls, and a tub that’s made for sharing too. The toilet is in a separate room, and there’s also a dressing area and deep closets with robes and slippers plus and iron and board.

The spectacular Ocean Front Luxury Suites are grandly appointed with original art and Mexican decor. Like a magnificent private residence, each one features expansive living areas that are ideal for entertaining or for family relaxation. Twenty-four hour butler service and chef service is included in the rates for these accommodations – the staff can prepare gourmet meals for guests in the fully equipped kitchen or take care of laundry requirements, make arrangements for spa services, dinner reservations or activities.

The suites are located in a three story Ocean Front building, with one suite on each level. Each suite can be reserved as either a two bedroom or a three bedroom unit.

The three bedrooms are beautifully furnished and feature extravagant bathrooms. The Master Bedroom opens out onto the pool terrace and its bathroom has direct access to the hot tub. This bathroom also has a Jacuzzi bathtub, a large walk-in closet, and a steam shower that can be accessed from the bathroom or from the pool terrace.  The third bedroom has an independent access door adjacent to the main door for the suite and is therefore ideal for a second couple or staff traveling with the guests (nannies, bodyguards etc) rather than for small children. By locking this third bedroom, a two bedroom suite can be created.

These amazing suites feature huge outdoor living areas with multi-tiered private swimming pools and outdoor Jacuzzis. This ground floor unit also has large gardens that stretch down to the beach and even a barbecue area for outdoor dining. The second and third floor suites still have a large pool and a Jacuzzi plus a huge sun terrace and are more private than the ground floor suite.

The  Residences at Esperanza are one, two, three or four bedroom units that are ideal for families or groups of friends traveling together. They are available for rental on a weekly basis from Sunday to Sunday. With a minimum of 2,400 square feet of living space in the two to four bedroom suites, the residences feature full kitchens, luxuriously furnished sitting rooms, large patios and ocean views.

Many of the Residences have a generously sized plunge pool or jacuzzi, and most have large sun terraces that enjoy ocean views. The huge swimming pools in this section of the resort are never more than a two minute walk away.

restaurant

Esperanza’s main restaurant is called simply El Restauranteand serves fresh “Cuisine of the Sun” from dawn to dusk. In the daytime, shady tables under the huge palapa are the most popular and every table has a prime ocean view. For lunch, enjoy the tastiest fajitas, grilled Angus burgers or ceviches, all served with sea breezes!

At breakfast the menu is equally enticing and includes juices, aguas frescas and smoothies to refresh, followed by innovative egg dishes, burritos, waffles and pancakes. You’ll often receive a complimentary taster of fresh smoothie or mini-muffins to try whilst you study the menu.

In the evening the restaurant terraces are lit by torches and guests can dine under the stars, with the rhythm of the ocean as background music. Local fish and imported meats are a specialty here and every evening is magical.

There are other options for dining here too, including a tapas restaurant and an open air terrace by the lobby that’s perfect for lunch.  Selections of ceviche, sushi and tapas compliment the balmy climate perfectly.  It’s also possible to enjoy a light snack by the pool at the Palapa Bar.

Most Thursdays the resort celebrates Mexicanisimo – an Oceanside evening of Mexican music, food, drinks and handicrafts under the stars. And on Wednesdays there is Carnavalisimo – a barefoot barbecue with fresh seafood and marinated meats served by the bonfire.

beach

Esperanza’s estate includes two beautiful beaches. The beach in front of the main hotel pool is perhaps the wildest and is not generally suitable for swimming. Instead there are king-size beach cabanas where guests can lounge in the shade and watch the waves.  The ocean is magnificent here – it’s almost mesmerizing to watch the powerful waves crashing on the rocks.

The second beach is just around the corner and is more sheltered. Here you can wade in the ocean and it’s sometimes possible to swim with care.

pool

Esperanza boasts four magnificent swimming pools, each offering a different experience. This is the main hotel pool and it is reserved for adults only. Behind the pool are lush green lawn terraces furnished with sun loungers and parasols, making a striking contrast with the blue hues of the pool and the ocean. This is a tranquil place to relax and admire the powerful ocean or to enjoy some serious lap swimming.

An expansive freeform swimming pool is located by the four bedroom Residence Villas and can be used by all guests. This pool has several different sections, including shallow relaxing areas, Jacuzzis and a swim-up bar. Couples will love the double sun loungers, including some with a built in sunshade.

In the center of the resort there is an enticing pool with waterfall feature and shallow areas suitable for children. It’s located by the Member’s Club room, which has a snack bar and toddler play room, so it’s a good choice for families. The fourth pool is the Beachfront Residence Club pool. This pool has a dramatic location, almost overhanging the ocean. It has a swim-up bar and a Jacuzzi (children are not allowed in the Jacuzzi but can use the pool).

spa

The lavish spa at Esperanza features warm soaking pools, steam caves and a cool waterfall rinse set in shady tropical gardens, with separate areas for men and women. There are also communal areas with comfortable day beds where guests can read magazines or just relax whilst they wait for treatments.

Natural healing agents, indigenous to the region, are used to create a selection of enriching treatments. Fresh fruits, sea greens, desert herbs and minerals are prepared freshly and a special menu of nutritious and therapeutic Aguas Frescas(refreshing natural drinks) are available each day.The special couples’ treatments take place in a private suite with garden, soaking pool and outdoor shower. Esperanza also offers Mambo Combos – special packages that combine harmonizing treatments to create a pampering experience.
