In a nutshell:
Intimate and romantic hotel with just 8 sumptuous rooms, offering an all-inclusive plan with gourmet food and beach front dining. Adults-only, private and relaxed, yet close to Punta Mita for golf and activities.
Casa de Mita is a unique property and a true gem amongst Mexico’s Pacific coast hotels. With just eight rooms, each individually furnished and all boasting ocean views, it’s one of the smallest luxury hotels in the area.
Incredibly, rates at the Casa de Mita include all meals and house beverages. And the dining experience here is sublime, the freshest fish is complimented by home grown herbs and organic vegetables; breakfast features just-baked breads and freshly squeezed juices.
The Casa accepts adults only and has a tranquil and relaxed ambiance. There’s little need for guests to venture beyond it’s walls, but if they choose to they can find a host of adventures, from world-class golf (at discount rates) to snorkeling, diving, whale-watching and fishing. Puerto Vallarta is around 40 minutes away by road, so it’s also possible to enjoy some nightlife if you want to.
The five Ocean Front rooms are delightful, but for the biggest wow-factor, choose one of the penthouse suites. All rooms are tastefully furnished and have large bathrooms and balconies or terraces. Some of our favorite touches include I-pod docking stations and Aveda amenities.
The Casa has a beachside swimming pool and comfortable public areas, including a TV lounge and a small work-out area with treadmill and eliptical rower. Massage services can be arranged on-site in a dedicated treatment room. Wireless internet access is available in all the public areas and some of the guest rooms, and complimentary phone calls can be made from the guest services area, so it’s easy to keep in touch with home and business.
We recommend the Casa de Mita as a sophisticated choice for relaxing, indulgent vacations. It’s amazing how much luxury can be packed into such a tiny property.
This tiny hotel offers a huge amount of luxury for guests who don’t need all the facilities of a large resort. There are just eight guest rooms, including two sumptuous penthouse suites. Five of these rooms are in the Ocean Front category; these are cozy rooms each with a king bed and luxury bathroom. These rooms have all the ingredients for a romantic and indulgent vacation; ocean views, tasteful decor and high quality furnishings. The Junior Suite has two queen beds and is a surprisingly spacious room on the second floor. The two Penthouse suites are the ultimate choice for honeymooners; each is impressive in size and boasts wonderful ocean views from their interiors and private terraces.
The furnishings have been individually selected for each guest quarter and there are lots of nice touches, such as docking stations for I-pods, luxury bed linens, and romantic drapes over the king beds. Bathrooms are spacious and feature Aveda toiletries and hairdryers. Air-conditioning systems are efficient and near-silent, water in the faucets is purified and there is wireless internet access in many of the rooms.

One of the Ocean Front suites is located on the ground floor, and hence has restricted views of the sea. It is a charming room, furnished to the same exquisite standards as the others, and has a terrace with armchairs. This room is close to the property’s lounge and terraces, and also to the TV room.
The interior features a romantically draped king size bed, and there’s also a window between the bedroom and bathroom that can be closed with shutters if required. Like all the rooms at Casa de Mita, this one has a large and indulgent bathroom with a huge walk-in shower and pretty tiled vanity area.
The four Ocean Front Upper Level Suites each have a king bed and are cozy, comfortable and tastefully furnished rooms. All have lovely ocean views and each has a furnished balcony. The bathroom area within each room is surprisingly spacious and includes a roomy shower stocked with Aveda toiletries. In some rooms there is just a three-quarter height wall between the bathroom and the bedroom.
Our room included a hand painted armoire with half-height hanging space containing good quality hangers and fine quality bathrobe and slippers. It is evident that a lot of care and attention has been lavished on each room, something that would be impossible to achieve in a larger property.
This is a very spacious room with two queen beds that is accessed by stairs from the first (ground) floor. It can be booked together with one of the Ocean Front Suites (#6) to make a two bedroom suite. Both suites are accessed by the same staircase. The suite has two terraces; a large sharead terrace and a smaller private terrace that overlooks the swimming pool and the ocean beyond.
It has a large bathroom with a huge walk-in shower, and an attractive vanity area. There are no doors between the bedroom and the vanity area and only a three-quarter height wall dividing the vanity area and bathroom.
This fabulous suite would wow even the most jaded of travelers. It is incredibly light and airy, with high walls and a palapa roof. It has a high canopied bed, from which one can see the ocean, and a large private terrace furnished with lounge chairs.
This is a very romantic and indulgent room with fine furnishings and a stylish, open plan design. It is located on the third floor. The bathroom is huge and is divided from the bedroom area by linen curtains. The bathroom also has doors out to the terrace, from where there are spectacular views of the bay.
This suite occupies the entire top floor of one of the Casa’s buildings. It has a large bedroom and bathroom with a separate dressing area, a kitchen and sitting room with dining area, and two terraces.
Being located on the highest level, this suite has far reaching views (though it also requires some effort to reach it via the external stairs). The terrace is furnished with comfortable chairs and is cooled by sea breezes.
A massive four poster bed dominates the bedroom. A triangular shaped balcony is accessed from the bedroom and has wonderful, elevated views along the bay. The extensive living space in this suite means that it would be ideal for a long stay, but it is also very indulgent for a honeymoon or romantic vacation when only the best will do.
All meals are included in the rates at Casa de Mita, and guests are treated to a wonderful section of freshly cooked, exquisite menus that change every day. Fresh herbs and organic fruit and vegetables are grown on site. A selection of house beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are included in the rates too.
Breakfast and lunch may be served by the swimming pool, with tables overlooking the beach. Dinner is served at 7:00pm in the palapa-roofed restaurant that lies adjacent to the swimming pool.
Casa de Mita is perched a few steps above a beautiful white sand beach that stretches for over one mile to a rocky headland at Punta Mita. Sea kayaks, boogie boards and snorkeling equipment are available at the hotel for guests’ use.
From mid-November to mid-April you may even catch a glimpse of whales crossing the bay as you relax on the beach.
Puerto Vallarta airport lies about 30 miles away, and the journey by car takes about an hour.

We recommend taking the hotel’s transfers as the property is not easy to find.
