Dolores Hidalgo is a “Pueblo Magico” or “Magical town”, in the state of Guanajuato. It is known as the “cradle of National Independence”, as this is where Father Miguel Hidalgo issued his “Grito”, or cry for independence, on September 16 1810.
Dolores Hidalgo lies around mid-way between San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato, and is highly worth a detour if you are traveling in the area.
