Location: The reserve begins just south of Tulum’s beach zone and extends over 400,000 hectares, including 75 miles of pristine coastline.
How to get there: It’s possible to drive into the reserve through the stone arch on the Boca Paila road, but to really see the spectacular natural beauty, it is necessary to take a tour.
What to bring: Snorkeling gear, towels, biodegradable sunscreen.
What you’ll see: Tours usually include boat rides through the mangroves, snorkeling in remote bays, maybe a float down the canals and lagoons, and sightings of many species of birds and wildlife.
