In a nutshell:
Chic little hotel in the heart of beautiful Oaxaca City. Known for its outstanding gourmet restaurant. Rooms are simple but stylish and there’s also a small pool.
A real haven in bustling Oaxaca, the Casa Oaxaca is surely the city’s most artistic hotel. From a traditional colonial house the owners have created a statement in contemporary style, simple but alluring, and comfortable for a long or short stay.
With just five rooms and two exceptional suites, this Casa will never be overcrowded. Reserve the whole hotel for a family group and you can revel in the luxury of a secluded swimming pool, personal chef and priceless privacy. The Casa Oaxaca is also ideal for single guests or couples looking for a balance of personal space and community that is hard to find in a large hotel. And if you’re planning some artistic composition of your own, you’ve found the ideal retreat.
Although there are many enticing restaurants within easy walking distance (Casa Oaxaca is just three blocks from the Zocalo and one block from the Santo Domingo Cultural Center), don’t miss the opportunity to try the exceptional creations of the property’s famous chef Alejandro Ruiz.
We strongly recommend the hotel for longer stays of three or four nights upwards. This gives guests time to appreciate the comfort of their residence and to enjoy the myriad of attractions in Oaxaca without the pressures of a short visit. Both Oaxaca and this unique hotel should be savored for as long as possible.
The five standard rooms lead from the tranquil main courtyard. Each cool and airy room is decorated with modern simplicity, so that the quality of the furnishings and the artistic value of each piece is paramount.
Many rooms feature colorful photography of Zapotec villages and scenes that capture the ethnic diversity of the region, so much more pleasing and appropriate than most hotel art.
Above all, the small details are a constant and delightful surprise; a whimsical lamp or candle display, fresh flowers or fruit artistically arranged, an eclectic choice of reading matter.
Every room has cable television, telephone and writing desk, plus a gleaming bathroom with walk-in shower

The entrance to room #5 at Casa Oaxaca is from the main courtyard. It has a king bed and features a sitting area with a window facing towards the pool courtyard. A screen of foliage keeps the room nice and private but allows breezes to circulate. A comfortable leather armchair is an inviting place to relax and enjoy the fresh air.
The magnificent master suite is arranged over two floors with a sweeping staircase connecting the two levels. On the ground floor is a cozy TV corner and a bathroom.
On the upper level, large feature windows open onto the pool courtyard, flooding the area with daylight. The king size bed is set back from the windows, with a small table and a sofa occupying the split level area by the windows.
Located right next to the pool, this is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Vibrantly colored bougainvillea surrounds the windows and frames the views of the courtyard below.
The junior suite comprises of a king room and a second room with two queen sized beds. The rooms are connected by a small seating area and have their own private staircase for maximum privacy.
Ideal for families or two couples these rooms have a private terrace overlooking the tranquil courtyard.
The second bedroom is ideal for older children who can have their own room or groups of friends who would like to share but still maintain their own private space.
Continental breakfast is included in the rate for guests at Casa Oaxaca. This might typically be a selection of tropical fruits, home baked banana bread, juices and freshly brewed coffee.
For dinner, the chef is available to prepare whatever you might like to eat, but you should make reservations at least the previous day.
The dining room can seat around 20 but is equally comfortable for just two. It is the perfect setting for that special meal, perhaps an exquisite interpretation of Oaxaca’s region cuisine, or something more International.
For breakfast, we love to eat on the shady tables around the main courtyard. As always at this Casa, it’s a tranquil start to the day.
Few city center hotels in Oaxaca can boast a swimming pool, so this good sized pool and sun terrace is especially welcome. The private courtyard setting is a real haven.
Steam baths can sometimes be arranged in the traditional Mexican Temazcal located here.
Reserve the Casa’s suite for the best view of the pool, though rooms 3, 4 and 5 also look over this courtyard from their rear windows.
The airport in Oaxaca has some international flights and many internal flights. It is about 6 miles away, and the journey by car can take about 30 minutes.
